Predator Kit UPDATE:

Due to the rise in material cost, we have started bidding for the Predator kits at $150 on our ebay store     http://myworld.ebay.com/metalwatercreaturedesigns
Get them while they last. The kit includes a tracker helmet fully hand sculpted by Tony Colque of MWS, two solid cast hand sculpted tusks, laser targeting module, and real leather strips so that you can accurately accent your tusks like the original!

We will be listing them individually, the current bid is $150, with six days left. If you do not wish to buy the blank kit and have a custom request for a helm, or if you do not wish to buy through Ebay, please contact us through our Etsy store: www.MetalWaterStudio.etsy.com OR shoot us an e-mail: MetalWaterStudio@gmail.com
We would be happy to work with you to create a custom finish or design.

This is NOT your average "dixie plate" casting; This mask is so thick you need to watch your toes! Measuring up to two inches thick in some areas and at least one inch cast everywhere else, this is a well made heavy duty fan prop that Predator Fans should not miss! - Tony C. MWS

NEW DESIGNS!

We have started production of this year's horn line, with some very detailed pieces. One of our highlighted sets are our new Oni Demon horns. They measure approximately 5" long, are very easy to apply, are lighweight and lend a very striking accent to any costume. They are available for custom finish, but will be available through our etsy store in various colors.
Stay tuned for more design releases coming soon to our etsy store:

We are working on styles that one might not find in normal prosthesis sources. Above is a new design, very bull-like when worn on the forehead. They are again, very lightweight and great for many possibilities: Our customers order our horns and other prosthesis for professional photo shoots, live and video performances, celebrations, events, solstices, Burning Man, and much more.
We are excited in the anticipation of our new full scale Ram's Horn Prosthesis, the first test scheme coming out this week, so stay tuned. We have done a lot of research and have found that we are the only ones who currently make full scale horns like this. The taxidermy sites don't carry them, and we are very proud to be able to offer this to our customers.  They are molded from hand sculpted horns.

We have unfortunately discontinued last year's Little Rhino design, however we have been designing a newer, sleeker version (pictured above), with differed options (like "skinned" prosthesis) :

and more sizes in this design to come. We will be releasing brand new designs such as the above 5" Oni design in the coming weeks.
We will also be releasing an ear prosthesis line as well as spine and spot pieces! You can also find great directions on how to apply your prosthesis at our etsy store under policies in the "additional policies" section: http://www.etsy.com/shop/MetalWaterStudio/policy
Also keep checking back for the release of our larger haunters props and prosthesis soon to come!

MWS Featured on Celebrate Odd Etsy!

We thought we would let everyone know we have been featured on the widely followed (we follow it too) blog:    http://www.celebrateoddetsy.blogspot.com/  :)

A blog dedicated to "Celebrate all that is odd and wonderful on Etsy!" where the blog has so lovingly expressed how there are wonders to be found in the odd and strange, the- not something you would find everyday of the Etsian Community. We are very proud to belong to that group. Odd IS good! So thank you once again COE!

Also we should give a shout out to Rachel of TheLastLittleBird.etsy.com for featuring us on her squidoo for "Costume Accessories for when you Don't Have a Costume". She chose to feature our little Rhino Wedge horn prosthetic appliance:

Which have been very popular this past Halloween 2010, and can be purchased here on our etsy page:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/60178274/little-rhino-wedge-horn-prosthetic-ooak

They are less than an inch long and approximately half an inch in diameter, easy to apply in about ten minutes, just apply the adhesive, let dry, stick to body, and Ta Da! You have a costume. Hey if Charmed can stick some horns on a biker looking dude and call him a Demon---So can you!
Thank you again Rachel, we are thrilled that you featured us on your squidoo! We really appreciate all the support from friends, fans and our fellow artists.

Mask Talk

Now let's talk masks for a minute:  Many of our friends will recognize this one, sculpt and finish by Mr. Tony here at MWS ; A thick latex mask finished in an old stone or paper wash, real leather ties for the mouth, and our second version sports a button black eye on the right side.
Many people like the traditional mask where it is clear you are in costume. However, we have figured some things out and will be releasing silicone masks here as well. They will look and feel realistic, and stick to your facial features to move with expressions. We wont say that one technique is better than the other, they just do different things and have a different purpose.

Allistair is a prop design that is also intended to be a mask. As a prop with realistic glass eyes, you can image what it might look like fit to a person's face. A demon with a purpose, Allistair's job is to dispose of criminals, in his case, child abusers. What people do not realize is that even early religious catalogs of demons were not so black and white evil. Most demons in these references have a purpose, but without an outlet, cause chaos, misery and destruction to the innocent. This is a moveable prop in progress, and eventually will be a jester-like human sized figure, costume and all.
Stay tuned for silicone mask updates and posts!

Winter Woes

Around Goodale, Victorain Village Columbus, Ohio.

As cool as this weather is and as beautiful as it makes Victorian Village, it makes it hard to get things done.  Getting the compounds to kick in cold weather is a pain in the arse , since all of our compounds use a heat reaction to cure (remember waiting for those plaster projects to dry that we did in elementary school?).

That's what I'm doing right now, posting to all you good folks, and waiting...And don't get me started on all the shipping issues as of late with the wintery weather, both sending orders and GETTING supply deliveries to FINISH orders.
BUT the inventory for MWHC is fantastic, and on track. Booth design up and running!

Art Pieces

"Melting into Being"

Since we are artists first and foremost (and alas, we are into everything), we always have some sort of side project going (usually multiple side projects), this is one that has brought us a lot of attention this year. "Melting into Being" : Sculpt, mold, and finished cast project all by hand by Tony Colque of MWS. A project inspired by fantastic realism masters.

Request for a faux bronzed Raptor Claw.
Done in MWS bronzing technique, this is a more affordable alternative to a fully bronzed sculpture, with the same look and feel without the weight. We will be releasing more, similar props, "petrified" will be among the finish options.

Bigger Horns

We have been trying out larger horns, and may be developing more techniques with other types of materials for alternative options, for instance latex free appliances. This was an idea that turned out well, but may be a discontinued design for this year, as we are developing more styles and designs. Here's looking back to 2010 and forward to 2011. MWS will be posting project pictures for an anticipated custom design: Giant Rams Horn Prosthetic

"Demon Wedge 2011"

BAM! There you go kids, a progress report.
Sculpted by Kat Firor in collaboration with Tony Colque, Ram horn prosthetic custom design.
The next you see of these will be a finished appliance. The horns above are another wedge
style horn sculpted by Kat Firor in wax for our 2011 horn line.
These will be available through our Etsy page: http://www.MetalWaterStudio.etsy.com
And will also be a featured 2011 style for MWS at the Midwest Haunters Con. June 4-5th 2011

Halloween 2010 Horn Custom Requests

Tri-color 1.5" Uni-Horn Custom
It was a good Halloween for custom finishes, and things we may not have tried had we not been asked. For instance, when you tell me you want a rainbow unicorn horn for halloween, to BE a unicorn, and you are passed puberty, to be honest, I raise an eyebrow. HOWEVER given parameters, she picked great colors and the piece turned out quite well (and the costume looked great!), so kudos to the request! I take my hat off to you. ~K

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beast Cluster Custom
Interesting request for icy clusters. These spikes can be applied to many places on the body, a quality that made these a very popular item this year. Unfortunately we have actually discontinued this style, but will be releasing new versions of this idea, with different spike options.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Facial Application with FX makeup

We have been using a new technique for our horn and spike appliances that we invented here at MetalWaterStudio.
They are finished with flexible skin, and the horn is a hard, but lightweight. We also insert a special
material for an anti-tear technique so that you can keep your special piece and wear it over again.
One usually finds rubber horn appliances in stores, this is done because of the weight issue, however
with our technique, you still have a flexible, lightweight appliance, but get the realistic hardness of a
horn. Every horn is finished to last, be reused and also to provide the most realistic appearance
possible. Gloss coat is always included free of charge on request.

Custom work can be requested here:

Done in toy sculpting wax as a nod to Vinyl Toy art, this ornament doubles as an action figure. Will he have accessories you ask? You will have to wait and see! This line will include: Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolf, Frosty and possibly more.
